The Cisco ASA Specialist is recognised as the benchmark security product certification for engineers, consultants, and architects who configure advanced Cisco security appliances and VPN solutions, including advanced protocol handling, remote access VPNs, Secure Sockets Layer VPNs, site-to-site VPNs, high-availability VPNs, and failover.

Cisco ASA Specialist Recertification

Complete one of the following recertification options every two years. To recertify, pass ONE of the following before the certification expiration date:

• Pass a 642-XXX Security professional-level written exam, or
• Pass the current CCIE written exam, or
• Pass the current CCDE written exam, or current CCDE Practical Exam
• Pass the Cisco Certified Architect (CCAr) interview AND the CCAr board review

Cisco Firewall Security Specialist Certification

The Cisco Firewall Security Specialist accreditation recognises security professionals with the ability to design, implement, and maintain Cisco security appliance solutions, using the Cisco ASA adaptive security appliance and zone-based firewall solutions. The Cisco Firewall Security Specialist certification confirms that the individual demonstrates the skills and knowledge necessary to implement perimeter security solutions using Cisco security appliances. These certified specialists are actively involved in developing secure business solutions and designing and delivering multiple levels of secure access to the network.

Cisco Firewall Security Specialist Recertification

Complete one of the following recertification options every two years. To recertify, pass ONE of the following before the certification expiration date:

• Pass a 642-XXX Security professional-level written exam, or
• Pass the current CCIE written exam, or
• Pass the current CCDE written exam, or current CCDE Practical Exam
• Pass the Cisco Certified Architect (CCAr) interview AND the CCAr board review

Cisco IOS Security Specialist Certification

The Cisco IOS Security Specialist accreditation recognises security professionals who have the ability to demonstrate the hands-on knowledge and skills that are required to secure networks. Knowledge and skills include using Cisco IOS Security features for switch and router security as well as the widely deployed Cisco security appliances. Cisco IOS Security Specialists are able to secure the network environment and provide security services that are based on Cisco IOS Software, such as zone-based policy firewall, Cisco IOS IPS, user-based firewall, secure tunnels using IPsec VPN technology-including PKI, VTI and DVTI, Group Encrypted Transport VPN, and DMVPN--and advanced switch security features.

Cisco IOS Security Support Specialist Recertification

Complete one of the following recertification options every two years. To recertify, pass ONE of the following before the certification expiration date:

The Cisco Network Admission Control Specialist demonstrates the hands-on skills necessary to install, configure and operate the Cisco NAC Appliance. By applying their knowledge of the Cisco NAC solution, the Cisco Network Admission Control Specialist demonstrates the skills and knowledge needed to effectively identify, isolate and clean infected or vulnerable devices that attempt to access the network.

Complete one of the following recertification options every two years:

• Re-take and pass all exams for each Specialist certification indicated on the specific certification page. Please note: this includes ALL exams whether refreshed or not.
• Pass a current CCIE or CCDE written exam

Achieving or recertifying CCDE or any CCIE automatically extends your active Specialist certification(s) up to the point of expiration of the last certification achieved.

Cisco Security Sales Specialist Certification

This accreditation is intended exclusively for Channel Partners, the Security Sales Specialist demonstrates fundamental understanding of the Cisco Self Defending Network (SDN) Strategy. The Cisco Security Sales Specialist possesses the skills and knowledge necessary to assess customer needs and to effectively describe and sell components of the Cisco SDN to protect business assets, increase productivity, and reduce costs.

Complete one of the following recertification options every two years:
